Leadership Team

Steve and Jo-Ann Gaunt have two adult children, Lizzie and Peter. They are both from Bedford and have been married since 1982. Until 2004 Steve had spent most of his working life in the water industry, which included a number of projects overseas. Steve felt the call along with Bromham Baptist Church (BBC) into paid full-time Christian ministry in October 2004 and worked as a Staff Elder of BBC. Jo-Ann has spent time as a nursery nurse and since 2002 as a Christian School’s Worker for Impact (Bedford School’s Support Trust). Jo-Ann’s work takes her into over 30 Lower and Middle Schools in the Bedford Area, taking assemblies, RE lessons, lunch and after school clubs. At a Special Church Member's Meeting of Bromham Baptist Church in January 2008 the call of Steve and Jo-Ann to plant a church in Marston Moretaine was confirmed. And at our Inaugral Church Meeting, Steve was called as our Minister and Jo-Ann as our Associate Mnister.

Liz Edwards has two adult children, Gemma and Luke, and is a grandmother to Gemma‘s two children. She worked as a history teacher in secondary schools for thirty seven years, ending as a Head of Faculty, then spent five years working as an advocate for looked after children. She became a Christian in her 50s, joined the Baptist church in Wokingham, and was baptised by full immersion in 2006. She moved back to Bedford in 2016 where she helps to look after her grandchildren. She had her first contact with Vale Community Church via the ‘mums and tots’ group and became a member in 2017.

Having been brought up in a Christian family he came to a personal faith at the age of 14. His early church life was in the Open Brethren and he has since worshipped with both Anglicans and Baptists. He served as deacon and secretary at Bromham Baptist Church and for two years was lay pastor at Stevington Baptist Chapel. For some years Trevor was on the national speakers team for Christians against Poverty and continues to preach at many local churches.

Sherri Read and her husband Chris were at school together. They married in 2003 aged 20 and have 3 teenage boys. They moved to Marston Moretaine in 2006 but have lived in this area of Bedfordshire most of their lives. Sherri started attending Vale Community Church in November 2009 where she discovered God and gave her life to Christ in February 2010. Sherri’s background is in childcare. She helps at the church’s Baby and Toddler group Tiny Tots each week and helps teach in our KidsZone. Sherri’s passion is to encourage and show younger people that they are important to God and an important part of God’s family and the church family.
